A Note from Evolv’s Chief of Engineering: New Features to Simplify Your Security

Evolv 9.0 Software Update

We are thrilled to release the latest software updates for Evolv Express®, Evolv eXpedite, and MyEvolv & Evolv Insights®. This release brings a host of new features designed to improve security and streamline operations, making it easier for security teams to manage alerts and enhance firearm detection.

Integrated Evolv Tablet

One of the standout features of this update is the integrated Evolv tablet, which now allows alerts from both Express and eXpedite to be managed in one place. This integration aims to improve efficiency by streamlining alert resolution, providing security teams with a unified view of potential threats. With this feature, teams can quickly and effectively respond to alerts, aiming to create a safer environment for everyone. The tablet has a refreshed interface to support user navigation.

Express Detection Boost

The Express Detection Boost is another significant addition to Evolv Express 9.0. This new setting within select sensitivity levels detects additional firearms. Designed to maintain low nuisance alarm rates, this feature aims to improve firearm detection capabilities, providing security teams with more accurate and reliable threat identification.

  • Detection and false alarm rates will vary based on venue population, bag policies, and screening protocols.

Expanded Express Alert Tags

In response to customer feedback, we have expanded the number of Express Alert Tags available. With 22 new options, security teams can now categorize threats and non-threats with greater precision. This expansion allows for more detailed reporting and analysis, helping teams to refine their security protocols and demonstrate the impact of their weapons detection investment.

Sensitivity Tuning Steps

We’re excited to introduce sensitivity tuning steps that allow users to fine-tune detection sensitivity between select with flexible, percentage-based adjustments, giving security teams greater precision and customization. This added control allows teams to align detection settings more closely with operational needs and threat environments.

Additional Key Features

In addition to the main highlights, this release includes several other notable features.

  • QR codes on the Evolv tablet provide quick access to step-by-step instructions for resolving common errors, streamlining troubleshooting for operators.
  • Access control enhancements allow for integration with an access control system, enabling automatic door locking and unlocking based on security clearance.
  • Gen2 customers can benefit from new modes such as Exit Only Mode, which is designed to improve exit visibility and prevent accidental collisions.
  • Evolv eXpedite can now send data to Evolv Insights for reporting bag scan counts and alert rates.
  • Adjustable image exposure can enhance face visibility in varying lighting conditions.
  • Improved X-ray image quality for Evolv eXpedite supports secondary screening.
  • Live Screening Reports: Custom start times and event-based reporting for live monitoring.
  • The MyEvolv portal now features Real-Time Service Monitoring (RTSM) to detect Evolv Express scanner issues as they happen. Once configured, if a system error occurs, information is sent to Evolv’s support platform, which may automatically create a support case and notify the customer; no extra action is needed.

Supporting the Evolv Safer Experience System

Evolv Express®, Evolv eXpedite™, and MyEvolv and Evolv Insights® deliver a layered solution for concealed weapons detection, efficiently screening a high volume of people and bags. The new features are designed to simplify security operations, improve firearm detection, and provide deeper insights into potential threats.
